How to read the scores
Evidence measures usefulness for chronology and public facts. Trust measures sovereignty trust and independence from hostile geopolitical framing. Capture risk measures ownership, funding, state alignment, narrative laundering, former-colonial interest and elite-policy proximity.
Higher bar for “independent”
Truly independent media must clear a higher bar: public-interest record, transparent corrections, funding/ownership clarity, African-source density, ability to challenge Western and local power, and no routine laundering of foreign strategic narratives.
